Today, the steel industry faces the major challenge of continuously reducing environmental emissions while improving the economic viability of the process. The re-walking beam furnace due to its high energy consumption is one of the areas of concern in the steel industry. They are important pieces of equipment and walking beam furnaces help to increase the productivity and energy efficiency of a steel plant. The higher the operating temperature of a walking beam furnace, the more necessary it is to invest in fuel saving technologies. So what are the components of a walking beam furnace? What is the overall structure? What effects can each bring? Next, Xinpu Xiaobian will introduce the structure and working principle of the walking beam furnace. 1. Working principle of walking beam furnace:
Walking beam furnaces are beams in which the charge steel material (billet, bloom or slab) is lifted into the furnace and then moved to the next location. In these furnaces, heating is provided by using roof burners (which heat the roof and then dissipate the heat to the heat of the steel charge) and long-flame burners (burning fuel directly from above and below the roof). side wall or/and front wall). Common fuels used in reheat furnaces are low calorific value mixed gases (blast furnace gas mixed with coke oven gas and converter gas), coke oven gas, heavy oil, low sulfur heavy crude oil (LSHS) or natural gas.
Heat recovery systems have been widely used in steel mills to reduce heat loss from exhaust gases from reheat furnaces. Since heat loss from exhaust gases accounts for a high proportion of heat loss, furnace efficiency can be increased and fuel consumption can be reduced by using a heat recovery system. Two types of heat recovery systems are generally employed, namely centralized systems and distributed systems.
The centralized heat recovery system uses the heat of the exhaust gas to preheat the combustion air through a metal Heat Exchanger, which has been widely used at present. However, due to material temperature limitations, the MAX preheated air temperature obtainable by this method is about 600°C, while the furnace temperature is about 1300°C. Distributed heat recovery systems consist of switched regenerative burner systems that use ceramic (usually alumina) spheres as the heat storage medium. It provides preheated air at a higher temperature than central systems. So what is the whole structure like?
2. The structure of walking beam furnace:
Walking beam furnaces include: Combustion system including fuel used, supply and technical conditions of combustion air, burners and their location for proper heat distribution, preheating of combustion air and gas, waste heat recovery system, air-to-fuel ratio, furnace chamber Ventilation volume control, furnace exhaust system and furnace parameter measurement and control system. Furnace firing systems, in addition to supporting the required level of furnace productivity, ensure efficient use of heat input, low heat loss, efficient recovery of waste heat, minimal damage to furnace refractories, and reduced greenhouse gas (especially NOx) production. The furnace combustion system also ensures a furnace atmosphere which reduces scale formation on the steel surface.
